Crown does not publish a way to read the build year from the serial number. Here is where the data plate is and what it shows.

Where is the Crown serial number?

The serial is on the nameplate (data tag / data plate). On some Crown trucks it is also stamped on the frame; Intella shows a stand-up Crown with the serial stamped into the side of the mast. Intella's page has per-model photos (WP, WR, RC, SC, FC, PE, SP, etc.) of plate and stamp locations.

These rules come from the sources listed, which are aftermarket parts sellers, not the manufacturer. When the data plate shows a manufacture date, the plate wins.
