Floor cleaning cost per 1,000 sq ft

Floor cleaning cost per 1,000 sq ft: cost_per_1000_sqft = (labor_$_per_h + machine_$_per_h) / practical_sqft_per_h x 1,000; machine_$_per_h = (price - resale) / (years x hours_per_year) + annual_maintenance / hours_per_year. Enter your numbers below; the formula and its source are shown under the result. Part of this calculation is derived by Warehouse Machines from sourced inputs.

Use your own costs. Pads, brushes, chemicals and the battery replacement are not in this estimate unless you add them to maintenance.

The formulas

Floor cleaning cost per 1,000 sq ft

cost_per_1000_sqft = (labor_$_per_h + machine_$_per_h) / practical_sqft_per_h x 1,000; machine_$_per_h = (price - resale) / (years x hours_per_year) + annual_maintenance / hours_per_year

Derived by Warehouse Machines from Economic Efficiency (Supralift materials handling glossary): no single source states this formula, so treat the result as an estimate.

Supralift: economic efficiency relates the output to the costs of the equipment's use; operating costs include depreciation, maintenance and personnel costs. Dividing the cost per hour by the floor area cleaned per hour is arithmetic by Warehouse Machines. All money inputs are the user's own.

Worked example: Example inputs, not market prices: $20/h labor + $2/h machine = $22/h; at 20,800 sq ft/h (Tennant T5 28 in estimated actual) 22 / 20,800 x 1,000 = $1.06 per 1,000 sq ft.

Owning + operating cost per hour

cost_per_h = ((purchase_price − residual_value) / years + annual_interest + insurance) / annual_hours + energy_$_per_h + maintenance_$_per_h + battery_or_tire_reserve_$_per_h (+ operator wage if wanted)

Derived by Warehouse Machines from Operating Costs (Supralift materials handling glossary): no single source states this formula, so treat the result as an estimate.

Supralift lists the cost components (depreciation, imputed interest, energy, maintenance, personnel, insurance); the per-hour arithmetic is ours. All defaults must be shown and editable with their own citations from the prices_*.json files.

Worked example: $30,000 truck, 40% residual after 5 yr, 2,000 h/yr: depreciation $3,600/yr = $1.80/h; + energy $1.48/h + maintenance $1.25/h ≈ $4.53/h before interest/insurance.
