The formula
approximate_safe_capacity = (rated_load_center / actual_load_center) x rated_capacity
OSHA calls this an approximation for guidance only; it will not give exact load reduction figures. The manufacturer's capacity plate or load chart is the authority. Use it only when actual_load_center >= rated_load_center, and never take the result as permission to exceed the plate.
